Much land is needed for mass production of grains to feed livestock and for grazing. Deforestation for this purpose exacerbates global warming and threatens the extinction of wildlife.
Industrial livestock farming is the largest land user in the world, utilizing more than a quarter of the Earth's land for feed crops and grazing. If meat consumption continues at the current pace, even more land will be required in the future.
