To maximize profits, vast forests worldwide are being converted into farmland for the production of monoculture crops and livestock feed. This shift is accompanied by the heavy use of pesticides and chemicals, leading to air and water pollution. In such conditions, microorganisms and insects decline, and over time, fish and birds begin to disappear. Eventually, this chain reaction of extinction will threaten wildlife. The loss of forests also accelerates global warming.
Such self-destructive environmental degradation is believed to be driven by excessive capitalism’s relentless pursuit of growth.
